ON THIS DAY…
On Saturday, December 8, 1849, JOHN MIX married NANCY THURBER in Bolivar, NY (Allegany County). I’ve never found a reference to John having a middle name, although Nancy is listed in their big family Bible as “Nancy A.” Other family records identify her middle name as “ANN.”
At their wedding, John was a 23 year old (who would turn 24 in less than three weeks), and Nancy was almost two months into being a 17 year old. They would be together until John’s death in 1894. They raised seven children.
